No matter how many times you tighten the knot on your tzitzis, within a few days, if you’re lucky, it will start loosening.
This simple hack will keep your tzitzis tied for months!
- Give your tzitzis one tight tug.
- Open your water tap on hot, then put the tziztis knot under the tap for a second (if you can boil water it will be stronger).
- Give one last tug to tighten, and voila!
Repeat for all your family’s tzitzis and talis and it will be the last time it bothers you for a while.
Why it works:
Wool, as well as many materials, shrinks in water which will allow you to tighten tighter than usual. With wool, hot water does an even better job at shrinking the material. Once the knot starts drying, the wool strings will expand forcing the knot even tighter.
